Energy is an essential part of life and no living organism can exist without it.

Even when you sleep, your body exerts energy to sustain the normal functions of your major organs.  You also need energy to be able to move to find food which your body uses as fuel to keep it alive.  It is actually a cycle that only ends in death.

Here are nine factors that can help to improve your energy level:

1. Sleep

Sleeping for eight to 10 hours per day is ideal amount of sleep that can give your body the rest and time it needs to replenish the energy it expended during your waking hours.  Sleeping for more than 10 hours at a time is no longer beneficial because it can cause fatigue.

2. Healthy Diet

Foods are your primary sources of energy and nutrition.  You can't be strong if you are not healthy as well.  You should eat health-giving foods as these also fuel you up with vigor.  Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, plenty of water and foods rich in magnesium are power foods which you need to include in your diet in order to keep your body and brain healthy and strong.

3. Movement

Low energy levels are sometimes caused by being sedentary or lethargic.  Start moving and you will discover that you have more energy that you thought.

4. Avoidance of sugar

Sugar is tasty and it has the ability to give you a short-term buzz as it stimulates your nervous system quickly.  But when it exits your bloodstream, it can cause your energy levels to crash.

5. Power Naps

Being constantly on the move can cause your energy levels to drop.  One way to replenish it quickly is by taking a cat nap or power nap in the middle of the day.  This can also make you less sleepy in your working hours.

6. Avoid Stress

Stress is a known energy sapper which can also rob you of a happy life.  You should avoid people and situations which can give you stress.  If you are assigned in a stressful work environment, you should reduce its impact by practicing yoga, meditation, massage aromatherapy or physical exercises.

7. Do workouts

You need lots of energy when you workout.  But it can make you stronger and allow you to produce more energy in return.

8. Avoid energy-sapping people

Negative people such as complainers and those who want to control others are energy vampires that suck energy from you. You should avoid them.

9. Go get some sun

The sun and sights of the natural world are great sources of healthful energy and power.  You should go and get them; they're free.

These are some of the natural ways to improve your energy level.  If you feel that you are still tired despite of your efforts to get energized, you should consult a medical professional, for you might have a health problem that needs to be resolved.
