Smoothies are healthy beverages made from fresh fruits which are blended with crushed ice, honey or syrup, milk, yogurt or ice cream.  These chilled beverages which was often marketed to health-conscious individuals in mid 19002, found its way into the mainstream of society in the late 1990s and today, they are already available in restaurants, snack bars, cafes and some coffee shops.

Although smoothies are blended, it offers the nutritional benefits of eating the real fruit.  They are rich in carbohydrates which your body needs primarily to obtain energy.  Lots of smoothies are also packed with cell, and muscle-building protein.  It also contains dietary fiber which plays a major role in digestive health.

The most common nutrient found in most fruits is Vitamin C while the most prevalent mineral present in dairy products is calcium.  Since smoothies are made mostly of fruits and dairy products, it is already given that it carries plenty vitamin C and calcium that our body needs for nutrition.  Vitamin C is an antioxidant that boosts your immune system.  It also works as a natural healing nutrient to cure wounds and nourish your gums.  Calcium on the other hand, promotes the health of your bones and teeth.  It also helps to normalize muscle contraction which works to regulate your blood pressure.

There is no doubt about the health benefits of smoothies.  But it is also worth noting that they contain sugar which can contribute to your problem if you are on a weight loss regimen.

Smoothies are Better than Multi-Vitamins

Being a rich source of fiber and nutrients, consuming smoothies on a daily basis can be your best dietary habit towards a healthy and energetic life.  According to nutrition experts, consuming a blend of recommended fruits and dairies daily can make you get the majority of your daily nutrition needs before lunch, and it includes water which keeps you hydrated and feeling your best the whole day.

So to ensure that you get plenty of water, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, minerals and protein, make it a health habit to take smoothies everyday.  It is just as good if not better than popping a multivitamin pill which by the way, is not strictly regulated by the Food and Drug Administration.
