Self-esteem is a reflection of a person's sense of self-worth and personal value.  It mirrors the way he sees himself and it has a big influence on his thoughts, actions and relationship with others.

Self-esteem is developed in the family, through interactions with other people, personal experiences and a person's perception about himself.  A person's relationship with people close to him has the biggest influence on the development of his self-esteem.  

A person with a healthy self-esteem is assertive, mentally stable, energetic and happy.  He radiates confidence and sees himself as worthy of respect. 

A person with low self-esteem, on the other hand, is someone who does not think highly of himself.  He anchors his mindset on the thought that his ideas are not needed and his opinions don't matter.  Low self-esteem is not a healthy outlook.  It can only lead you to believe in your weaknesses and not in your strengths. 

Parents need to reassure their children of their capabilities.  They should stop criticizing their children's weaknesses as it can affect the way they see themselves.

– Passiveness and

– Low resistance to stress

If you see these signs in yourself, you need to improve them in order to boost your self-esteem.  You need to change the way you see yourself so that people can change the way they see you.  Boost your self-esteem and realize that you are capable of doing many things which you thought you couldn't do.

Self esteem is a basic human quality that you need to nurture.  It affects all aspects of your life and it can do wonders for your success.
